The First Amendment: The Clear and Present Danger and a Freedom Worth Defending
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. I don’t believe in censorship. I also don’t believe that we have the right to drown out the voice of someone simply because we disagree with their point of view. On a daily basis, people practice their “1st Amendment Right” believing that it is a freedom of speech from the government. Ms. Arleen Ocasio’s actions violate the Constitution, and I insist that you remove her as Director of the Houston National Cemetery immediately. Posted under:
Government Tells Soldiers They Don’t have Freedom of Speech in Gay Debate
I just learned this week that the government is telling soldiers that they no longer have freedom of speech if they disagree with gays in the military, or even if they disagree with homosexuality in general. Specifically, just this week in one of these “gay trainings” here in Texas, an Army JAG officer instructed the room full of soldiers that they will not be allowed to personally express any opinions Posted under:

This election may be a transformation election, beginning with the economy, but underneath the surface is the question: can we limit the power of government? Obamacare is but one case where economic freedom is at stake. The idea that a person could be forced to buy a product they don’t want or need because the government demands it is a misuse of the commerce clause.

Recently I sent the following letter to Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki insisting that he fire Houston National Cemetery Director Arleen Ocasio immediately, and that he reopen the cemetery’s chapel and issue a clear statement that veterans support organizations and their prayers are welcome at all VA facilities.
The Military is in the process of putting all American Soldiers through training in anticipation of the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. The repeal will allow openly gay people to serve in the Military.
