What is at Stake? The Constitution!

This election may be a transformation election, beginning with the economy, but underneath the surface is the question: can we limit the power of government? Obamacare is but one case where economic freedom is at stake. The idea that a person could be forced to buy a product they don’t want or need because the government demands it is a misuse of the commerce clause.   Read more »

The First Amendment: The Clear and Present Danger and a Freedom Worth Defending

AMENDMENT I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

I don’t believe in censorship. I also don’t believe that we have the right to drown out the voice of someone simply because we disagree with their point of view. On a daily basis, people practice their “1st Amendment Right” believing that it is a freedom of speech from the government. We fail to realize that it is also a freedom to speak without the fear of being ostracized or attacked, by fellow citizens because we have different points of view on issues or candidates, for instance.

SOPA and PIPA Would Kill Thousands of Jobs

Provisions contained within the  Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) and the Stop Online Privacy ACT (SOPA) put an unconstitutional prior restraint on your freedom of speech on the web. Any discourse, be it vocal or virtual, is protected under the First Amendment. SOPA allows the government to target and shut down web sites providing information about the bills' censorship mechanisms or methods of circumvention. To avoid this, sites would need to constantly police and monitor any content on their site

Why You Should Say No to SOPA and PIPA

If you’ve browsed the Internet today, you know that a handful of websites, including Wikipedia, TwitPic and WordPress, have blacked out in protest of the Stop Internet Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA).

Other websites, such as Google, are joining in the protest by displaying propaganda against the controversial acts.   Read more »

Wikipedia and Other Sites Shut Down in Protest of SOPA and PIPA

For those trying to access the English-language Wikipedia today, you will only be able to find directions for reaching members of Congress to protest the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) and the Stop Online Privacy ACT (SOPA), legislation that critics argue could diminish Internet and free speech and would allow the US government to shut down websites that contain content or links to unauthorized copyrighted content.

Attack on 1st Amendment and Religion – Texas School Punishes Boy for Opposing Homosexuality

I recently wrote an article about the war that is raging against religion in America. From crosses being banned at historical memorials to the government banning prayers at funeral services of fallen soldiers, there is literally an all out war against religion. It is unconstitutional and goes against everything that America was founded on.

Religious Censorship at Houston National Cemetery

Recently I sent the following letter to Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki insisting that he fire Houston National Cemetery Director Arleen Ocasio immediately, and that he reopen the cemetery’s chapel and issue a clear statement that veterans support organizations and their prayers are welcome at all VA facilities.

Secretary Shinseki,

I am writing to let you know that I am in complete agreement with the May 26, 2011 ruling from United States District Judge Lynn N. Hughes (below). Ms. Arleen Ocasio’s actions violate the Constitution, and I insist that you remove her as Director of the Houston National Cemetery immediately.

Government Tells Soldiers They Don’t have Freedom of Speech in Gay Debate

The Military is in the process of putting all American Soldiers through training in anticipation of the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. The repeal will allow openly gay people to serve in the Military.

I just learned this week that the government is telling soldiers that they no longer have freedom of speech if they disagree with gays in the military, or even if they disagree with homosexuality in general.

Specifically, just this week in one of these “gay trainings” here in Texas, an Army JAG officer instructed the room full of soldiers that they will not be allowed to personally express any opinions
