I introduced H.R. 1253, the Sequester Pakistan Act, which will freeze all foreign aid to Pakistan until the Military Tuition Assistance Program of the Department of Defense is fully funded. This important program provides our troops the opportunity to obtain higher education that many could otherwise not afford.
As I was reflecting upon our current fiscal situation here in Midland County, an analogy came to my mind. That analogy is the movie “Little Shop of Horrors.” For those who have not seen the movie (which ends differently than the Broadway play),
I have an email correspondent who cuts loose with yet one more rant about the greedy, voracious and calloused rich suppressing and robbing the middle and lower classes. Of course, President Obama is pressing this angle right now, claiming that Mitt Romney wants to tax others to pay for “another tax cut” for the rich. One might speculate that as a leftist ideologue, he believes that the “cost” of tax cuts will eventually come out of the better interest of society, though growth, opportunity and increased revenue always follow tax cuts.
[Editor’s note: Mark Ramsey was a member of the State GOP Platform committee in 2010 and 2012, and was also elected to the State Republican Executive Committee from Senate District 7 (SREC SD7), Senator Dan Patrick’s district.]
Democrats could anticipate the Latino vote without much effort or campaigning in past political races. In fact, it used to be the norm that if Latinos voted, no one asked their political affiliation because it was presumed that they were Democrat, especially in Texas. Studies have shown us that Latinos will come out and vote at certain times and for certain candidates.
When I think of Leadership, the first example of a good leader that comes to my mind is Moses. Moses took Leadership when the Jewish People were in slavery in Egypt. Under Moses Leadership, the Jews went from a very bad position to a much better position. They went from Slavery to Freedom and they were on their way to the Promise Land.
We try to keep our valuables and belongings safe by locking them up. We lock our car doors when we get out of it, we lock our house doors when we leave our home. We’re constantly on guard against someone taking our valuables. We don’t want to experience loss. I want to let you know that the greatest threat or danger of suffering loss through robbery, is not from those who come to take, but from those who give to you and rob you of your initiative.
The Ron Paul college kids are too smart for such silliness. Then there are the rest of them.
