Paralysis, Gridlock?

Are the Republicans causing “gridlock,” “paralysis,” etc. in Congress? Is it the Republican-controlled House or the Democrat-controlled Senate that can’t pass bills, can’t even pass a budget? Why is the theme of the day that nothing is happening in DC because of (wink, Republican) extreme partisanship? (See “Senate Gridlock explained in one chart,” “‘Deliberative’ Senate gripped by paralysis,” “Chipping away at Senate gridlock,” and the many articles about how “moderate” Olympia Snowe is.) (Whatever you do, do not mention “Jumpin’ Jim” Jeffords, much less Arlen Specter.)

House Dems’ Deep Commitment to Small Business Job Destruction

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) is a political committee devoted to maintaining and increasing the 239-member Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.

President Obama has repeatedly insisted that the payroll tax holiday for middle class families be extended for one full year, a measure the House passed on a bipartisan basis last week:

OBAMA: “INEXCUSABLE” FOR CONGRESS NOT TO EXTEND PAYROLL TAX CUT FOR ONE YEAR: “While this agreement is for two months, it is my expectation -- in fact it would be inexcusable for Congress not to further extend this middle-class tax cut for the rest of the year. It should be a formality.”

Dems Keep Job-Destroying Default Clock Ticking With Political Games

NRCC - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s deficit plan is the only plan that at this point hasn’t passed a single house of Congress, and may not pass any house of Congress:

House Republican Leadership Leaves Obama and Democrats with Egg on Their Faces

Obama has egg on his faceSpeaker of the House John Boeher is quickly becoming one of the strongest Republican Speakers of all time. He is standing strong against heavy pressure from the Liberal Media, Barack Obama, Democrats in the Senate and even some House Republicans. But the strength of his leadership and the contrast to the Democrats' lack of leadership leaves President Barack Obama and other Democrat leaders with the July "Egg on Their Face" award.

Communicating Reagan Style

The great communicator Ronald Reagan once said, “Hispanics are Republican they just don’t know it.” Recently, Harry Reid countered that statement by saying, “I don’t know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be Republican.” As candidates seek nominations and placement in the up coming elections, strategists have begun to ask, “How could knowing this nugget of truth help win the Latino Vote of 2012?”

I was a Reagan Republican many years ago, and still am to my core. However, there is a great difference in the GOP of today and the past as it relates to Hispanics.

Lincoln, McClellan and John Boehner

First Battle of Bull Run was fought on July 21, 1861. After the disastrous Union defeat, President Lincoln summoned George McClellan to command the forces in Washington.

Lincoln was impressed by McClellan's ability to turn the new Army of the Potomac into an effective fighting force. McClellan spent the summer rebuilding the defeated army. As fall turned to winter however, it became apparent that McClellan had no intention of leading his army into
