On January 16, 2012 with a light drizzle, over 100,000 people attended the Martin Luther King march in San Antonio, Texas. The march was contained on the East Side streets and ended at Pittman Sullivan Park

The head of the DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz stated this past Friday during the season premiere of HBO’s “Real Time” that the Democrat Party is the “natural home” for minorities. I visited the newly installed Martin Luther King Memorial in Washington, D.C. just a few days after it opened on August 30, 2011. Approaching the MLK Memorial entrance, I knew it was going to be impressive.

UPDATE: the one Jasper Council Member who survived the Jasper recall election, Tommy Adams, was just arrested and charged for Drunk Driving ( DWI 11-28-11)

UPDATE 9/14/11: since this article there have been many new events. More discrimination lawsuits have been filed against the city. The recall petition was successful. The council chose to illegally not put the petition on the ballot. A court ordered them to put it on the ballot. Pearson has fired one of the white officers who went was also in the running for police chief. The council even just voted to give Pearson a $5000 raise even though the city does not allow anyone to get a raise until after they have been there for a year. Pearson has been there 6 months....

In April 2011, The Jasper, TX City Council hired a new Police Chief. Rodney Pearson, who was most recently working in the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department, is the new Police Chief even though

“Nothing in the world is more dangerous than a sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.” This statement was made by one of the finest human beings, in my humble opinion anyway, that ever graced the American Republic. They were made by a person of high ideals and infinite wisdom. A person with a vision of what this great nation of ours could achieve if we could just come together as a people. That person was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Conservative Americans that we are, we have long lived with our heads down in the sand, or up our, “you know what’s” when it came to the political arena.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said he had a dream his children would grow up in a nation where they were not judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

I too have the same dream for future generations; however, probably not in the same context many thought King referred to in his speech.   Read more »
