It is shocking to me to be writing stories about how our government is sounding more and more like Cuba and Venezuela.

This administration is clearly bent on squelching all dissent and grabbing power as quickly as possible. There is a move afoot (behind closed doors) to get rid of the ability to filibuster in the Senate. This is very worrisome.   Read more »

I issued the following statement today after the Senate Agriculture Committee’s mark up of Chairwoman Blanche Lincoln’s (D-AR) Wall Street Transparency and Accountability Act of 2010:

Texas is fortunate enough to be a state in which the State Board of Education (SBOE) is elected, giving students' parents and other tax-paying citizens a voice in the public educational system, as opposed to most other states. According to Phyllis Schafly,
