Strategy To Remain On Offense Keeps House In GOP Hands
To win in 2012, you had to understand 2010. Republicans made historic gains two years ago – defeating Democrats in every region of the country and evicting Nancy Pelosi from the Speaker’s chair. These wins were born out of America’s frustration with Washington. For two years straight, Democrats ruthlessly forced a big-government, Washington-knows-best agenda on the American people. Yesterday, I introduced the Protecting Seniors’ Access to Medicare Act of 2013, cosponsored by Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and 30 Senators, which would protect the rights of patients, families, and doctors to make medical decisions by repealing the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB).
Say what you want, Obama may be an economic illiterate but his team can be masterful when it comes to politics. And he managed to get the Republicans to raise marginal tax rates on the “rich” and screw the middle class. At least 77% of Americans will see their taxes go up after this deal, and that is a fact. We should not forget that 75% of the taxes supporting Obamacare will hit the middle class. So much for protecting the middle class. Don't be fooled, the middle class got to keep their Bush tax rates, but they are getting hit by the double whammy of seeing Social Security and Medicare taxes go up by 2 percentage points, and of course, Obamacare.
I find it very hard to understand why there is so much emphasis on ‘coming together’. The truth is that the LEFT will never understand that we want God in our lives and see Christ as our Lord and Savior and that we love America. We basically want the best for our children without the help or interference of the ever growing government. The fact is we want a smaller government with fewer dictates and leadership that understands that we can not spend more than we take in.
There are a growing number of employer lawsuits seeking relief from all or part of the ObamaCare contraception mandate currently winding their way through the federal judicial system. As we approach the end of the year, the number of court rulings on these cases is steadily increasing. And the rulings do not bode well for a quick resolution to the legal challenges to Mr. Obama’s signature legislation.
There have already been several great bills filed for consideration in the 2013 Texas Legislature. These great bills range from
Medicaid currently takes up about a third of Texas' All-Funds budget, and we can expect it to continue growing over the years unless serious reforms are made. According to a 2010 report by Cato Institute Senior Fellow Dr. Jagadeesh Gokhale on behalf of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, even before ObamaCare was passed, Medicaid was expected to overtake 32% of the All-Funds budget by 2019, and 39.3% by 2040.
The last clear chance to disrupt the full implementation of Obamacare slipped by last night. Despite the fact that a majority of Americans oppose it, the Affordable Care Act will be fully implemented with occasional modifications as the Secretary for Health and Human Services sees fit.
