Too Fast, Too Furious

Why is it that with all the talk of preventing gun violence with unconstitutional gun control directives, the president and his odious band of weapons dealers have not been called to account for their illegal arms shipments south of the border, or their giving of arms to al Qaeda resulting in the effective murder of U.S. diplomatic personnel in Libya?

The hypocrisy is breathtaking. But this is an all too familiar pattern for Obama. The fox has taken charge of the henhouse. President Obama sent weapons, untraced

Hidalgo County Sheriff may have Killer of US Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry in Custody - Fast and Furious Update

Gustavo Cruz-LozanoUpdate:  ABC/Univision is reporting that the FBI has said that Cruz-Lozano lied about killing Agent Brian Terry in order to get attention.  See details at ABC News.

As the debate of gun control crescendos across America, there are signs of a potentially major development in the murder case of US Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. Yesterday, the Hidalgo County Texas Sheriff's Department arrested a Mexican national, Gustavo Cruz-Lozano, on charges of making terroristic threats against Sheriff Lupe Treviño on July 25th of last year. My sources said that Cruz-Lozano has told the sheriff's investigators that he was the shooter in the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

Brian Terry - Two Years Later - Too Few Answers: Exclusive Interview with Kent Terry

Brian Terry Memorial at Site of ShootingNote:  This article contains an exclusive phone interview with Brian Terry's brother, Kent Terry.  A full transcript of this interview follows this article.  Comments are welcomed at the bottom of this page.

Two years ago, a US Border Patrol BORTAC Team was responding to a sensor alert in the Peckwell/Rio Ricco sector of Southern Arizona. This region was known to have violent Mexican gangs known as RIP Crews. These RIP Crews would roam these mountains preying on other drug smugglers and human trafficking coyotes. Agent Brian Terry was a member of this elite BORTAC Team. Upon encountering the RIP Crew a gun battle ensued leaving Brian Terry dying in the desert sand and one of the bandit's wounded. Now, after two years of Congressional hearings and Department of Justice (DOJ) investigations, we know little more now than we did shortly after that night.   Read more »

Lamar SmithDuring the planning process for my recent trip to Washington, DC, I learned the House Judiciary Committee would be having a hearing entitled, "The Obama Administration's Abuse of Power". US Rep Blake Farenthold (R-TX) Discusses Fast and Furious and South Texas Issues

While in Washington, DC this month, I sat down with South Texas Congressman Blake Farenthold from Corpus Christi, TX. Farenthold sits on the House Oversight Committee which has been looking deeply into an issue I have been covering since the day after the murder of US Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, Operation Fast and Furious. We also discussed issues important to South Texas, including Border Security, a guest worker program

Congressman Smith Responds to IG Report on Operation Fast & Furious

I issued the following statement in response to today’s release of the Justice Department Inspector General’s report on Operation Fast and Furious.

The Inspector General’s report confirms what we’ve known all along -- that the Justice Department failed to properly oversee a program that allowed guns to be trafficked into Mexico, endangering public safety and ultimately contributing to the shooting death of

Administration’s Abuse of Power Undermines Constitution and Economy

Today, the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing to examine the Obama administration’s abuse of power and its effect on our Constitution and economy. At the hearing, I outlined numerous ways that the Obama administration has placed a partisan agenda above the rule of law.

For example, the President ignored immigration laws and enacted mass amnesty for potentially millions of illegal immigrants without Congressional approval. He bypassed the balance of powers by making recess appointments

Executive Privilege And The Stonewalling Of Fast And Furious Information

Texas Congressman Ted Poe speaks on the House Floor regarding Fast and Furious and Obama's use of executive privilege:

Mr. Speaker, the government continues to hide the evidence of the Fast and Furious gun running scheme.

The attorney general says he doesn’t know who authorized this reckless and deadly operation, but he still conceals documents to show what occurred.

Poe To Pelosi: This Is About The Supression Of Gunwalking Not Votes

The following statement was released in response to the Minority Leader’s assertion that Congress’ investigation of Attorney General Eric Holder and Fast and Furious is part of an effort to suppress votes:

Nancy Pelosi is wrong again. The Congressional investigation into Fast and Furious is about the suppression of gunwalking, not voters. As the minority leader should know, the Attorney General lost all credibility to investigate Fast & Furious long before Congress voted to hold him in contempt.   Read more »

Vote PASSES, Eric Holder in CONTEMPT - Obama Executive Privilege & "Evolving Truth" No Good in Fast and Furious

The House Oversight Committee has just passed a Resolution 23 to 17 holding Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt for not releasing Fast and Furious documents.

The contempt charge now goes to the entire House for a vote on holding Holder in contempt before it is sent to prosecution.

The committee even passed an amendment with many reasons why Obama's executive privilege is not valid.

The Committee hearing was very interesting. The Democrats, like Reps Towns and Rep Norton, tried to say that the Committee should give more time to Eric Holder because Holder is willing to work with the committee to release some documents.   Read more »
