The sequester has forced many branches of our armed forces to stop their college tuition aid programs for active duty troops and vets, but it hasn’t slowed obama’s cash outlay to questionable organizations and countries.

In March, the State Department confirmed that they would proceed with the $500 million in aid to Palestine, and are working to persuade Congress to grant an additional $200 million.   Read more »

Whether or not Chuck Hagel is confirmed as our next defense secretary, his nomination has already done serious damage to U.S. credibility on Iran, thereby emboldening the most dangerous regime in the Middle East. Within the past week, Palestinian militants fired missiles at Israeli targets and Israel has responded with strikes of its own in parts of the Gaza Strip. A missile attack on Jerusalem on Friday marks the first attack on the holy city in decades. I pray for the victims of these attacks and for a peaceful resolution to the crisis. I continue to stand firmly by Israel as it works to promote and secure democratic values in a region ravaged by violence and political unrest.   Read more »

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree.
Which road do I take? she asked. Where do you want to go? was his response.
I don't know, Alice answered.
Then, said the cat, it doesn't matter.

In the last few days the attacks on the Republican candidates by the media have been unbearable to watch or listen. An accidental gaffe in a debate or in a forum has turned Republican candidates into late night jokes and fodder to those bloggers who scorn on anything Republican.

An exchange at the recent 2011 G20 summit between French President Nicolas Sarkozy and President Obama, captured on microphones the two thought were not yet turned on, offered the world a small window on their views of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In this unintentional broadcast, Sarkozy labeled Netanyahu a “liar,” to which Obama replied,

Reporters were able to listen in on a conversation between Obama and French President Sarkozy that the two thought was private at last week's G20 Summit. During the conversation, Obama criticized Sarkozy for not having warned him that France would be voting in favor of the Palestinian membership bid in UNESCO, despite America's strong objection. Sarkozy declared of Israeli Prime Minister Ben Netanyahu, "I cannot stand him. He's a liar." Obama reportedly replied: "You're fed up with him? I have to deal with him every day."

As we watched history unfold before our very eyes, America seemed to betray its strongest ally in the Middle East.

In declaring his support for shifting Israeli-Palestinanian borders back to where they stood over 40 years ago, before the 1967 Arab-Israeli conflict, President Obama has turned his back on our greatest ally in the Middle East. Beyond this deliberate assault on Israel's sovereignty, the president also chose to ignore two critical issues: Who would retain control of Jerusalem, and where Palestinian refugees would go if boundaries were, in fact, negotiated.

Israel has long been one of our nation’s closest allies, and President Obama’s statement is rife with audacity, contempt, and disregard.

Following President Obama’s Middle East speech calling for Israeli-Palestinian borders to “be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps,” I released the following statement:

President Obama should not unilaterally decide where the borders of Israel should be. Unprecedented U.S. pressure on our friend Israel is wrong and could make a negotiated peace with the Palestinians more difficult, as the Administration’s previous diplomatic blunders have demonstrated.   Read more »
