The Market Fairness Act: Hurting Business and Hurting Consumers

The Market Fairness Act just passed the Senate. The Act would give local entities the power to require retailers with sales of over one million dollars a year to collect state and local sales taxes for online purchases. The bill passed with an overwhelming majority in the Senate with only a few Senators like Ted Cruz and Rand Paul voting against it. The bill is likely to face fierce opposition in the House. This bill encapsulates what is wrong with the government’s view of how to improve the economy.

Freezing Federal Pay

On Friday, the House passed H.R. 273, legislation that overturns the President’s December 2012 executive order giving non-military federal employees an across-the-board raise. President Obama’s proposed non-merit-based pay raise would go to bureaucrats—many of whom are already receiving boosts to their pay in the form of performance-related bonuses. According to the Congressional Budget Office, federal workers make

The Lost Decade Continues!

The lost decade continues along with the permanent Obama recession. (The latter name was coined by Morton Blackwell of The Leadership Institute and it shows the perilous position of our economy and the slow growth that continues almost four years after a recovery was declared.) If the recent fiscal cliff showed anything, it shows a Congress that is not very serious in dealing with our fiscal problem, or for that matter, designing policy for growing the economy. Wall Street Journal author Holman Jenkins noted,

Data About Obama's Permanent Recession

Editor's note: The data came from a December 20, 2012 Zero Hedge article and shows the true nature of our economy.

The Zero Hedge blog site had some interesting data that shows the fragile economy. In December of 2008, 31.6 million Americans were on food stamps, and today, nearly 48 million Americans are now on food stamps. That means 1 out of every 6.5 Americans are dependent upon food stamps.

Are Democrats Liberal or Socialist?

Are Democrats liberal or socialist? Rasmussen had a recent poll in which Democrats were divided by their view on socialism, and Gallup polls showed that the majority of liberals and Democrats had a favorable view of socialism. Rasmussen noted that by nearly a 3 to 1 margin, the average American doesn't really care for socialism, but it is obvious many in the Democratic Party do. So does a party that is sympathetic to socialism by its members a socialist Party? Gallup showed that Democrats viewed the Federal government more positive than capitalism.

Small Business Owner - We Did Build It - Obama's War on Healthcare, Manufacturing, Small Business and Texas

Romney Ryan Flag in Houston TexasRecently I was driving down the freeway in Houston, Texas and I noticed a small business alongside the freeway that was making a BIG statement! Flying over the business was a giant American flag, which is common to see along Houston freeways. But next to that flag, instead of a giant Texas flag, was a solid blue flag with the letters proudly stating the owner's endorsement of "Romney - Ryan" to be our next president and vice-president.

I did a quick U-turn and came back to find not only the flags, but a big Ted Poe for Congress sign adorning the property of Houston Business Owner, Tim Mattingly

Despite Small Gains; Millions Remain Out of Work

With over 23 million Americans unemployed or underemployed, today’s jobs report that the economy added 104,000 private sector jobs in September is bittersweet news. High unemployment rates have become the status quo under the Obama Administration.

House conservatives have passed nearly 40 bills that will create jobs, grow the economy and reduce our dependence on foreign energy. Unfortunately, these jobs bills remain stuck in the Democrat-controlled Senate while millions of Americans are still looking for work.   Read more »

Dallas Event Tuesday October 2nd at Barnes & Noble! What Women (Voters) Want!

This coming Tuesday October 2nd (that would be tomorrow), at 7:00pm, I am having my first ever book-talk and signing at Barnes & Noble in Dallas! The book signing will be at the Lincoln Park Barnes & Noble at 7700 Northwest Highway, across the street from North Park Mall. Please come and join us!

My new book is called Ladies, Can We Talk? America Needs Our Vote! My goal is to flip the gender gap in voting (at least do my part in that effort), and to inspire more women to vote for conservative solutions to the challenges our country faces. I wrote it to inspire women to take a fresh look at the facts about where America stands today, and to challenge them to consider whether the votes they cast today will bring the future they want for our precious country.   Read more »

Aborting Job Creation, Obama Style!

I made the case recently that we are not better off than we were four years ago. Most economists agree that we need at least 300,000 jobs created a month to significantly reduce unemployment rates and job creation, and the best years of the Obama era has been half of the needed numbers. If you look at past recoveries like the Reagan years, job creation has occurred at more than double the rate of what Obama has created.

The decline of participation rate is a sign of a lack of job creations by the private sector occurring over the past four years. Since 2009, the entire workforce shrunk dramatically, but one can give Obama the benefit

Obama Has Turned America into a Regulation Nation

Today, I held a hearing to examine the Obama Administration’s expansion of government regulations that burden businesses, stifle job creation and stall economic growth.

According to the Heritage Foundation, in his first three years in office, President Obama adopted 106 major rules that impose $46 billion in additional annual regulatory costs on the private sector--a new record.
