CPAC and The Unifying Theme Of Conservatism

I would name a handful of the weekend’s Conservative Political Action Committee convention speakers in Washington, that I’d describe as particularly important to see. Some or all of them can be seen at YouTube, TexasGOPVote, C-SPAN (Video Library), and the CPAC website (though there were some audio problems at the time I looked):   Read more »

The results of the CPAC straw poll were announced tonight. Ron Paul came in first with 31% of the vote. Although, half of the voters wished there were better Republican contenders to choose from. About 2,500 people voted. View the full results of the poll:   Read more »

Ron Paul Popular With the Students at CPAC

Ron Paul really fired up the audience today at CPAC 2010, especially garnering a loud cheer from the student section. Ron Paul started his speech saying Obama was able to win the election with change, but Obama's change was the wrong change.   Read more »

Conservatism, Libertarianism, Clarity And Cooperation In Crisis

I wonder if some people are asking about me: “Who’s side is this guy on?” Well to begin with, I don’t think that is the first kind of question we should be asking. First of all, all of these arguments and all of the strain about immigration and libertarianism are a distraction in light of what is happening in America: sort of like fighting over the furniture when the house is on fire. We are losing our republic. And, I’m not just talking about the Obamian momentum that Scott Brown may have slowed. Mass-culture has contaminated our consciousness and our principles have been fading for a century.   Read more »

Immigration, Libertarian Food Fight Distraction

Lauro Garza reopened the discussion over the stark anti-immigration language in the GOP, which also opened some discussion about l(L?)ibertarianism. What is most notable about these discussions is the resemblance the comments bear to liberal Bloggers on the web, with all of the scorning and name-calling.   Read more »
