State of the Useless: My Summit With Barack Obama

It is time for a presidential summit featuring a half-black and half-white leftist fellow with big ears and a pasty white vertically challenged Republican Jewish blogger, both with winning smiles.

President Obama, I would like to invite you to join me on February 13th to a very special summit just for you and me. I will be at CPAC on the 12th and I know we will both be busy with Valentine’s Day on the 14th.

State of the Union: Clean Energy Comes at a Cost

[Editor’s Note: Our friends at the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association (http://www.loga.la/), who have been bold in challenging the O’admin’s senseless and job-killing deepwater drilling moratorium, say it is time to bring a reality check to the mindless (and wildly expensive) subsidies to so-called “green energy”. We thank them for permission to reprint below.]   Read more »

Cornyn Responds to President Obama’s State of the Union Address

President Obama made a lot of promises tonight in his State of The Union Address – just like he’s done in previous years. In past State of The Union speeches, President Obama has promised to focus on jobs and the economy, yet our unemployment rate still sits well north of nine percent. He promised to make the hard choices and cut spending, yet his policies have added more than $3 trillion to the national debt – in just the last two years. He promised to work across the aisle on energy policy,

Pete Sessions Responds to State of the Union Address

President Obama has once again promised the American people that he is committed to reducing the unemployment rate and getting our nation’s economy back on track. Unfortunately, the harsh reality of President Obama’s rhetoric versus his record has left the American people wondering if he will stand up, abandon his unprecedented spending sprees, and join House Republican efforts to end job-destroying policies.

The past two years have been characterized by broken promises to the American people resulting in a wildly

Mr. Speaker, Mr. Vice President, Members of Congress, distinguished guests, and fellow Americans:

Tonight I want to begin by congratulating the men and women of the 112th Congress, as well as your new Speaker, John Boehner. And as we mark this occasion, we are also mindful of the empty chair in this Chamber, and pray for the health of our colleague — and our friend — Gabby Giffords.   Read more »

President Obama - State of the Union 2011 Live Blog

Tonight, President Barack Obama will address a joint session of Congress to deliver his constitutionally required State of the Union Report. I will be "investing" some time along with most of you and looking for points to discuss.  I look forward to your comments and to this historic speech.

Lamar Smith Statement on the State of the Union

I hope that President Obama’s address tonight represents a real commitment to change the direction of his Administration’s policies, not simply a change in his rhetoric. The President campaigned as a moderate, spent the last two years pursuing policies far left of most of the country, and is now trying to once again come back to the center.

The President promised America that unemployment would stay below 8 percent. Instead, we have had 20 consecutive months of unemployment over 9

The Togetherness of the State of the Union Address

“A House Divided Against itself cannot stand.”
I believe this government cannot endure; permanently half slave and half free.

Obama May Be On A Collision Course With The Supreme Court

After a partisan ambush by President Obama at this year's State of the Union Address, the Supreme Court of the United States is poised for a showdown with the "great one." After The Court's decision in Citizens United, the President, in his annual address, criticized the conservative Justices led by Chief Justice John Glover Roberts, Jr.   Read more »
