The Gang of Eight - Immigration Bill

Senator John McCain – Senator Marco Rubio – Senator Dick Durbin – Senator Lindsey Graham
Senator Jeff Flake - Senator Robert Menendez - Senator Charles Schumer – Senator Michael Bennet

Can we trust the ‘Gang of Eight’ to stand firm on their Border Security, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013 and not give in to Open Borders or amnesty to 11 Million illegals.

Sen. Cruz Releases Inaugural Report on Obama Administration’s Unprecedented Attempts to Expand Federal Power

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) today released a report – “The Legal Limit: The Obama Administration’s Attempts to Expand Federal Power” – that analyzes six instances in the last 15 months where the U.S. Supreme Court has unanimously rejected the Obama Administration’s arguments for increased federal power.   Read more »

Dick Morris is Right - It is Time for Republicans to Lead on Immigration Reform

Dick Morris says Republicans should Own Immigration ReformToo often Republicans play defense on policy issues and allow Democrats (and the willing media accomplices) to control the language and tactics of the debate. Immigration reform has certainly been one of these areas. Democrats put forward a potential solution, and Republicans defend their position while offering little, if any, Republican ideas on the issue. This week, Dick Morris posted an article on his website, DickMorris.com where he challenges Republicans to move to the high ground and take a leadership role in fixing a problem that has long endured. Morris says Republicans should "Own Immigration Reform".

Addendum to the Autopsy: Team for America

Having finished reading the “Growth and Opportunity Project” report from a blue ribbon panel appointed by Chairman Reince Priebus, it reported seven different areas for improvement in the next campaign cycle. Each area described will likely have appeal to some people. To find your niche to help out, please read the entire report—it’s not that long—located at: growthopp.gop.com/default.aspx and many other sites.

However, I propose an eighth area of improvement. Let me call this the Team for America approach.

CPAC 2013 and the Presidential Hopefuls

Fellow TexasGOPVote blogger Tom Donelson recently wrote about some of the CPAC 2013 speakers who stand out as possible 2016 Presidential contenders, listing Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindal and Rand Paul.

I respectfully add to that list Ted Cruz, Allen West, Governors Scott Walker and Jeb Bush, and a long shot but very popular person, Dr. Ben Carson of Prayer Breakfast fame.

CPAC also featured Texas Governor Rick Perry, whose presence seemed to signal interest in running for President, although he has frequently told audiences

Why did Matthew Dowd call Governor Scott Walker “Fred Flintstone”?

Matthew Dowd said on ABC’s This Week that attendees at the 2013 CPAC conference last week in Washington were “like a bunch of dinosaurs.” CPAC reminds him of “you know, ‘Land Before Time’ and (is)…. like going to a Flintstones episode.” He sounded more like a mindless Tina Fey wannabe than a thoughtful Republican by saving a special jab for Governor Sarah Palin, whom he compared with the Kardashians. While I proudly have never watched any reality television show, I am pretty sure that the wholesome-family-life-in-Alaska Palin reality show was not in the same universe with whatever shallow drivel constituted entertainment on the Kardashians’ messy-life-on-display show.   Read more »

Texas’ New Senator Ted Cruz Tells It Like It Is!

What a joy it has been to watch Texas’ newest Senator Ted Cruz in action! In the short time he has been serving in Washington, he has already become a strong voice on the Hill and made an enormous impact for the conservative values that we hold so dear.

On January 31, Senator Cruz grilled Secretary of Defense nominee Chuck Hagel, reprimanding him for a number of failures, among

Congressman Stockman: Impeach Obama over Gun Control Executive Orders

My very own Congressman, Steve Stockman, is working hard for Texas and America. Congressman Steve Stockman was first elected to Congress in the Republican Revolution of 1994. He beat long-time US Representative icon Jack Brooks. Stockman has not been in Congress for over a decade, but now he is back after winning handily in the new Texas Congressional District 36 in east Texas. Stockman came in with boots on the ground and ready to fight for conservative values.

One of Stockman’s first votes was to not vote for John Boehner as the Speaker of the US House of Representatives because Stockman believes we

Senator John Cornyn Welcomes Senator Ted Cruz

Today I issued the following statement after joining Ted Cruz (R-TX) as he was sworn in as Texas’ next U.S. Senator:

Ted has quickly proven himself to be among the next generation of leaders of Texas and the Republican Party. I’m pleased to welcome him to the Texas delegation and I look forward to working closely with him as we fight for a conservative agenda that will grow the economy and create jobs while putting our nation on a path towards fiscal prosperity.
