WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Representatives Ted Poe (R-TX), Mike Thompson (D-CA), Peter Welch (D-VT) and Chris Gibson (R-NY) today introduced bipartisan legislation in support of an “all of the above” energy approach. H.R. 1696, the Master Limited Partnerships Parity Act will modify the federal tax code to make it easier and more attractive for private capital to invest in renewable energy.

This week the Obama Administration released illegal immigrants who were being held in custody pending deportation hearings in advance of the looming sequestration. Is this just another propaganda move to put pressure on Congress to act? Or is it yet another example of the sheer incompetence of this Administration. Remember, no budgets have been cut as of this time. Even after the sequestration, there is no cut to the federal budget, only a cut to the rate of increase of the budget. In an announcement today from his Washington, D.C. office, Houston Congressman Ted Poe has been named to serve as Chairman of the 58 member Immigration Reform Caucus (IRC). This news is very important for those who believe that our immigration system is currently in a broken state.

“Our immigration system has been broken for decades,” said Poe. “Now is the time for Congress to take the lead and work together to craft a permanent solution. Politics must not continue to trump people. The IRC will serve as a vehicle to bring people together to discuss what immigration reform should look like and how it can be accomplished.”

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has called the Super Bowl "the single largest human trafficking incident in the United States." According to Forbes Magazine, the Super Bowl held in Miami, Florida in 2010 saw an estimated 10,000 prostitutes brought to the city. Many of these being under-age victims of human trafficking. Republican Congressman Ted Poe has stepped into the gauntlet! I have known Ted Poe since his days as a criminal court judge in Harris County. I love to call him “Judge.” Please read Ted Poe's article in Politco "To start immigration reform, study Texas solution". Then forward it to other members of the Texas Delegation and ask them to get on the train and support Ted Poe! Texas Republicans have a sensible solution, it is appropriately named the Texas Solution!

As for all of the candidates on this year's ballot, this election cycle has been a very long, frustrating, rewarding and exhausting road.  An extended primary thanks to some federal judges and the Democrats, a July runoff election and then a shortened sprint to the finish line.  Former Texas Solicitor General Ted Cruz will cross that line sometime after 7 pm tonight and become Senator-elect Ted Cruz.
