State of Texas Sues DOJ & Challenges Voting Rights Act Section 5 Constitutionality
My Dreams are finally coming true! Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, on behalf of the State of Texas, has Sued Eric Holder and the Department of Justice! Greg Abbott, in his legal motion, directly challenges the constitutionality of Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act in response to the DOJ rejecting the Texas Voter ID Law. With the Supreme Court already set to hear a challenge to the Voting Rights Act this year in a case out of Alabama, this challenge from Texas is more ammo needed to get the Supreme Court to declare Posted under:

Should the Republican Party of Texas Sue DOJ over Voting Rights Act Preclearance Constitutionality?
The State of Texas is under assault by the Department of Justice and the Voting Rights Act. All this Texas redistricting mess (and the pushing back of the Primary Election date) is due to section 5 of the Voting Rights Act which requires a few states to have any voting changes approved by the Department of Justice first (because somehow it is better to have one unelected, biased person, the Attorney General Eric Holder, decide how a state runs elections instead of the elected officials of the state determining it for themselves). Eric Holder's Department of Justice Opposes a Beaumont Texas School District Election because too many white people voted and tries to block election using Voting Rights Act.
In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, I questioned the decision of Obama administration officials to challenge South Carolina’s voter ID law. I was joined in sending the letter by two Judiciary Committee members, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.).
A Washington D.C. Court has ruled against a Texas Voter ID Law and has also ruled against the latest Texas Redistricting Maps. The rulings are a result of Obama's DOJ leader Eric Holder's unconstitutional, race-based attacks against Republican-led Texas. These rulings are really just formalities that bring us one step closer to the U.S. Supreme Court striking down section 5 of the Voting Rights Act.
Many, including this writer, have lamented the tyranny oft-imposed by the judicial branch on the rest of us. Such abuses have included “Alice in Wonderland” interpretations such as:
I have stated in past articles that
Today is “Super Tuesday,” and Texans SHOULD be voting. However, due to the redistricting challenges, Texas voters will be voting almost three months later on May 29 and will likely have little to say about our presidential nominee. Texas holds the second highest cache of delegates to the Republican National Convention with 155 (behind California’s 172).

AUSTIN---Texas House Speaker Joe Straus (R-San Antonio) today issued the following statement on the federal court's proposed House redistricting map:
The 1960s was a volatile decade. The U.S. experienced changes that pushed the country into the forefront of international recognition for being a Superpower that eyed down a war that almost was. On the domestic front, the population was changing with voices of citizens eagerly wanting to be counted in the voting polls. In the South, this change also brought resistance that caused rioting and violence, and that was all too familiar of previous struggles that our nation had experienced during the Civil War. In Selma, Alabama, the riots and deaths of many were beginning to divide the country into that of color:
