Textbook Publisher Alters Declaration of Independence!

A fifth grader from Ector County Independent School District in Odessa, TX was recently told to memorize the Declaration of Independence.

But there was one hitch- an essential word had been altered.
The true text of the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence, as written by principal author Thomas Jefferson, states:

 

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."[Emphasis added]
However, a fifth-grade student reading one of the cover pages of "History Alive! America's Past," will see the following:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all people are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." [Emphasis added]
The text contained no visible disclaimer or brackets indicating that the wording had been changed.

This is nothing more than another assault on our founding documents by the politically correct liberal lobby. First impressions are very powerful, and the statement by the publisher that the "cover artwork contains the altered version", is an indirect admission that the true intent was to deliberately deceive the student.

The student is not going to go to the appendix to read what The Declaration of Independence actually says. The incorrect wording is branded into their minds, and they recite the error from then on. Repeat a lie often enough and people start accepting it as truth. It is in failing to fight the little battles that the whole war is lost.

why don't you post some links for people we can contact to 'suggest' and to 'straighten out' regarding this.  these people can only get away with this politically incorrect/morally bankrupt stuff, if we let them.  please provide some contact information on the people that need correcting.

Make no mistake, the Progressive Movement is after our children.

I have several Democratic friends and they say to me, "Whatever you do, DO NOT call me a Progressive. I am an American Democrat."

Progressives, like Hitler, knew, that if you shape the minds of children, you shape society. Do you think Hamas is making "Hate Israel" cartoons for nothing?

I believe that it should be made into law that every classroom in every place in our country have live video feed of every minute that students are in the class room. Wireless systems to do that, are very cheap now. Live feed is cheaply attained everywhere. Starting at Kindergarten, and going right through College.

Parents should be able to watch and hear what teachers are teaching their children. Every classroom session should be recorded for full review. Many other aspects of our society are recorded (political sessions,  most government buildings, streets, airports, and transportation) why not record what teachers are saying and doing? Throw some much needed light on the issue of shaping our children's minds.

Our children are our future and we have thrown them to the Progressive Socialists for "molding and shaping".  Honest teachers who are just trying to teach Geography and English having nothing to fear.

It would be interesting to see what the reaction of Obama Teacher's Union would be to such a law. Some teachers think that their job is to be political activists, more specifically to promote Obama. No wonder our students are failing....no time for Mathematics and Geography in that environment.

As we clean up corruption in Washington, D.C. let's not leave out other political activists who are trying to wreck our country both now, and in the future. It's high time they are afraid of US.

In the meantime, why don't parents put a pin, an earring, or a barrett on their child and see what the teachers are up to? This is equivalent to the widely accepted NannyCam.

If Nannies are widely monitored, why not teachers?
