Texas Republicans Launching Victory 2010 Campaign, Comptroller Susan Combs Named Executive Chairman of Grassroots Effort

The following was sent in from The Republican Party of Texas.

Today, Republican Party of Texas Chairman, Cathie Adams, named Comptroller Susan Combs as the Executive Chairman of Victory 2010, an unprecedented statewide grass-roots effort. Governor Rick Perry and U.S. Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn will be Co-Chairs of the effort, along with the other statewide non-judicial elected officeholders.

The goal of Texas Victory 2010 is to energize and reach out to voters across the spectrum on behalf of Republican candidates on the November 2nd ballot.

"Susan Combs brings a commitment and conviction to this effort that will help Texas Republicans have a sweeping victory up and down the ballot in November," said Governor Perry.

"Susan is a stellar public servant, a passionate leader and someone who knows how to both motivate and mobilize Texans," Senator Cornyn said. "I am thrilled she is our Victory 2010 Chairman."

“Susan Combs is an outstanding leader who brings tremendous abilities to everything she does,” said Republican Party of Texas Chairman Cathie Adams. “I’m confident that she is going to help lead Republicans to resounding victories across the Lone Star State in November.”

"I know first-hand the importance of grass-roots volunteers," Combs said. "We will work hard the next several months, reaching voters through the tried and true approaches. Nothing beats neighbor-to-neighbor conversation and door-to-door canvassing. At the same time, we will fully embrace social media, which has transformed personal contact enabling us to reach millions of Texans on a grass-roots, personal level.”

"From the courthouse to the Capitol, from the Governor down to the local offices on the ballot, we are committed to ensuring that Republican candidates are successful in November. The Republican brand represents the true values of the overwhelming majority of Texans and we look forward to reaching out to them,” she added.

Susan Combs was elected Comptroller of Public Accounts in November 2006. Prior to that, she served eight years at Texas Agriculture Commissioner. Combs also served in the state legislature as state representative. She was elected in 1992 and re-elected in 1994.
