Poll: Any Republican would beat Obama in 2012

From July 13 - 19, Quinnipiac University surveyed 2,181 registered voters nationwide with a margin of error of +/- 2.1 percentage points. Below is a sample of some of the questions asked and results obtained:

The country would be better off if John McCain had won the 2008 election: 37% yes, 35% no.

Feelings toward the President: 17% admire him; 33% are satisfied; 33% are dissatisfied and 15% are angry with him.

The President's handling of illegal immigration: 30% approve, 58% disapprove.

The President's handling of the economy: 39% approve, 56% disapprove.

The President's handing of the Gulf of Mexico spill: 41% approve, 51% disapprove.

If the 2012 election for President were being held today, do you think you would vote for Barack Obama the Democratic candidate, or the Republican candidate?
