Pete Sessions on House Vote for Real Solutions to Replace ObamaCare

I released the following statement today regarding the House’s vote to begin crafting solutions to replace President Obama’s government-takeover of health care:

Moving forward with our promise to the American people, the new Republican Majority is building on our vote to repeal ObamaCare by now setting the legislative stage for real cost-saving health care solutions to replace it. Republicans have long supported policies to provide all Americans with access to quality health care and embrace this opportunity to offer our common-sense solutions.

There is no shortage of great ideas on how to reform our health care delivery system, and I look forward to working with the four House Committees that have been tasked with developing legislation to replace the job-destroying health care law. To offer real solutions for the American people, Congress should be exploring and expanding high-risk pools to create universal access to those with pre-existing conditions, implementing real and meaningful tort reform, and creating small business health plans that generate larger insurance pools and drive down health care costs.

I believe the federal government should also reward innovation and allow states more flexibility to create successful ways in dealing with their uninsured populations, allow for individuals to purchase health care across state lines, and encourage the nation as a whole to live healthier. I remain steadfast in my commitment to providing real solutions for the American people through an accountable and transparent legislative process.
