The Lies Continue

What if instead of heading toward global warming, we are about to enter another Little Ice Age? The only thing we can say for certain about climate change is how much we don’t know. Forty years ago, scientists were talking about a new Ice Age and two decades later, a new Ice Age has given away to our planet becoming a sweltering furnace and now, we are talking about a little Ice Age, again.

The biggest problem of climate science is how much past history is ignored. The common sense approach would be to study what happened in the past and review the natural events responsible for climate change. On the contrary, some climatologist have attempted to rewrite climate history, but the Climategate emails exposed the poor science that some of the climatologists used in this project. This showed one of the biggest weaknesses of many climatologists, the failure to see that the climate is constantly changing and nothing stays the same. Many of these climatologists have attempted to sell the point that for the past millennium, no change occurred until this century. Actually, our present climate change appears to be similar to what we have seen over the past two millennia.

Historical records show ice packs floating farther south starting at around 1250 A.D. and the Little Ice Age began. The Great European Famine between 1315 and 1317 was a result of shorter growing season due to the increasingly colder climates and Norse settlers retreated from Greenland settlements. (Yes, Norse settlers actually had a successful settlement on Greenland because of the previous warming allowed for the settlement to survive.) The famine of 1315 became a pattern of famines for the next three centuries as shorter growing seasons made it hard for agriculture to provide for the population.

Colder winters featured freezing rivers and canals in Great Britain, Holland and Northern France. This was not restricted to Europe, as North America reported ice in the Great Lakes as late as June and the Southern Hemisphere reported colder temperatures as well. The Little Ice Age followed what was classified as the Medieval Warm Period which lasted 250 years from 1000 A.D. to halfway through the 13th century. Some scientists theorize that this was due to natural cycles in solar activity, particularly changes in sunspots. Lower sunspot activity may have resulted in period of even lower colder temperature.

We are in the midst of recovering from a mini ice age, starting in the middle of the 19th century. Scientists also noted natural conditions, just as changes in ocean temperature resulted in cooling global temperatures while the present warming trend may have been caused by warmer water. Over the past century, we have seen warmer and cooler temperature and they did not correspond with CO2 levels. The thirty year period from 1915 to the end of the World War II saw a warmer trend despite CO2 levels lower than today! Colder temperature may have resulted from colder ocean water from 1945 to the 1970’s and in the 1970’s many climatologists were predicting a new ice age! (And during this cooling period, CO2 levels increased. This should lead to any scientist to question the assumed relationship between rising CO2 levels and warmer temperatures.)

Warmer oceans may have led to this warmer climate from the 1970’s to 1990’s, but since the late 90’s there has been no evidence of warming climate, despite rising CO2 levels. And this should have led climatologists to question primarily anthropogenic global warming, and instead look to natural explanations. Ocean cycles are turning back to cold and sunspot activities are changing as well, suggesting even more natural impetus to climate change.

Britain’s Met Office, which has been a cheerleader headquarters for global warming hysteria, had to concede that there has been no real global warming for the past 15 years, and this trend is expected to continue through 2017! Human emissions of CO2 represent only four or five percent of total global emissions. While much has been made of CO2 level reaching 400 parts per millions, as I have stated in past articles, we have records of much higher naturally caused CO2 levels!

Why does this matter? Simply, as long as we are considering bad science as facts and refuse to consider past natural events as a cause of present of climate change, then we will continue to follow misinformed energy policy. We are the verge of being the dominant energy producer but as long we are hypnotized by climate alarmists, we will not develop our energy sources and we will continue be dependent on the mercy of unstable and unsavory countries for our energy needs.
