Sen. Glenn Hegar Signs Taxpayer Protection Pledge - Earns Endorsement of Grover Norquist
Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform*, endorsed Texas Senator Glenn Hegar in his bid to become the next Comptroller of Public Accounts for Texas. In a statement released by the Hegar campaign today, Norquist said, "Taxpayers have a great candidate to replace retiring Susan Combs as Texas Comptroller. By signing the pledge, Glenn Hegar demonstrates that he understands the problems of hard-working Texas taxpayers and that he will be a great fiscal steward for the state.”
Grover Norquist is the President of Americans for Tax Reform, a taxpayer advocacy group that works to limit the size and cost of government and opposes higher taxas. Norquist is also on the board of directors of the National Rifle Association. Earlier this year, I interviewed Norquist about Second Amendment issues which Sen. Hegar is also a strong supporter of. He also serves on the boards of The American Conservative Union and the Parental Rights Organization.
Hegar expressed his appreciation for the endorsement by this strong advocate for taxpayer protection stating, "Grover has been a strong advocate of limited government and I am proud to have his support for our campaign.
Hegar has been attracting the endorsements of a very impressive list of conservative leaders. Those include:
