Battle For Redistricting Is Still Raging. Final Push For The Nixon Map Plan 212 - Action Required!

[FINAL URGENT PUSH] Wayne Christians Texas Legislative Update: April 26

The battle for redistricting is still raging. We can still show that the power belongs to us by contacting our state representatives and telling them we want the latest version of the Nixon map Plan 212 to be the one that stands for Texas voters. This map, when voted in, will be followed until the next census.

The Redistricting Committee came up with a map for our state representatives but it fell short in keeping the elected Republicans in office. So another map was drawn by Joe Nixon and Trey Trainor his assistant making it possible for 97 of the Republican state representatives the opportunity to be reelected. Nixon has worked with legislative members making the latest version agreeable to most state representatives. House Plan 212 will be introduced by State Representative Erwin Cain. The committee map only allowed for 92 of the Republican state representatives to return. There will be some pairings which means that some districts have been consolidated. As I understand this situation is unavoidable because of population loss in Dallas and Harris Counties. Texas has also gained some open seats and conservatives should be able to win these districts based on election data.

According to Joe Nixon who redrew the inadequate committee map, this map is not reflective of the voting patterns in Texas, violates the Voting Rights Act and is not compact. The new version Plan 212 is in compliance with the Voting Rights Act and reflects how the majority of Texans voted. A lawsuit by the Mexican American Legislative Caucus has been filed protesting the 2010 Census. Let’s see, Texas voted Republican and has 101 Republican state representatives and the Democrats were able to muster only 49 state representatives and they want to protest? If you are able to view the video by State Representative Wayne Christian, you will better understand this very critical map. Please contact your state representative and tell him we want the new version map Plan 212 and NOT the Redistricting Committee Map. The House plans to vote on Redistricting on Wednesday April 27. Ask your state representative to please vote for redistricting map Plan 212! We went to the polls on November 2, 2010 to make a difference and we did! But our battle is not finished let’s finish it off!
