How Far Away is Our Demise

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UEDJncZbh4&feature=share

Yesterday, America hit 16 trillion in debt. If this does not scare you, then nothing will. Remember the Super Committee that was supposed to come up with a solution? The purpose of the committee was to produce a debt reduction plan. Well they did not, and Obama’s plan that the military should bear the burden for their inability to solve the debt situation is still in place. It seems the dilemma is where to cut even though our debt for entitlements and government payroll has soared since Obama took office. Imagine when ObamaCare is in full force in 2014. It is clear that Obama has chosen this path from the beginning to spend as a way to equalize us and destroy the America we can believe in.

Of course, the Republicans blame the Democrats and the Democrats blame the Republicans. But we all know who cares about our military and our national defense. How far away is our demise? Obama is our demise. Vote for the Romney/Ryan ticket in November.

Open letter from Romney on Obama's visit to Virginia
Excerpt

Unfortunately, the defense cuts you signed into law will hit Virginians hard. Your insistence on slashing our military to pay the tab for your irresponsible spending could see over 200,000 troops forced from service. It will shut the doors on factories and shipyards that support our warfighters, take a heavy toll on the guard and reserves, and potentially shutter Virginia military bases. It will shrink our Navy below a level that is already not adequate for protecting our national security. Mr. President, our troops, military families, and veterans want to know why defense is the only part of the federal budget you are willing to cut. They deserve better.

Under your administration, the backlog for wounded warriors receiving their disability has nearly doubled, and unemployment among young returning veterans is in double digits. The effect of forcing 200,000 additional service members out of uniform and into a faltering economy, sending them from the front lines to the unemployment lines, will overwhelm overburdened state offices like the Virginia Department of Veterans Services. It will impose suffering and hardship on so many military families.

I will use my authority as Commander-in-Chief to protect the troops, not veto efforts to protect them. I will never allow our national security to be held hostage to extract political concessions. The ultimate responsibility for securing our national defense rests with the President. I will work to solve our security problems, not spend my time shifting blame.

The President's Priorities

One of the greatest spend-while-you-can documents in American history

February 2, 2010

One rule of budget reporting is to watch what the politicians are spending this year, not the frugality they promise down the road. By that measure, the budget that President Obama released yesterday for fiscal 2011 is one of the greatest spend-while-you-can documents in American history.

We now know why the White House leaked word of a three-year spending freeze on a few domestic accounts before this extravaganza was released. No one would have noticed such a slushy promise amid this glacier of spending. The budget reveals that overall federal outlays will reach $3.72 trillion in fiscal 2010, and keep rising to $3.834 trillion in 2011.

But the reality is that even these still-high deficits are based on assumptions for growth and revenue gains from record tax increases starting January 1, 2011. And what a list of tax increases it is—no less than $2 trillion worth over the decade. The nearby table lists some of the largest, all of which the Administration and its economists claim to believe will have little or no impact on growth. If they're wrong, the deficits will be even larger.

If this budget is Mr. Obama's first clear demonstration of his long-term governing priorities, then it's hard not conclude that this spending boom is deliberate. It is an effort to put in place programs and spending commitments that will require vast new tax increases and give the political class a claim on far more private American wealth.

For Government, Let the Good Times Roll

For most Americans, the Great Recession has been an occasion to hold on for dear life. For public employees, it’s been an occasion to let the good times roll.

The percentage of federal civil servants making more than $100,000 a year jumped from 14 percent to 19 percent during the first year and a half of the recession, according to USA Today. At the beginning of the downturn, the Transportation Department had one person making $170,000 or more a year; now it has 1,690 making that. http://article.nationalreview.com/424072/for-government-let-the-good-times-roll/rich-lowry
