Donald Trump made a surprise visit to CPAC 2011 to annouce his potential bid for Republican nominee for President:
I deal with people from China, I deal with people from Mexico. Other countries view our leaders as weak and ineffective. They laugh about what they can get away with.
Over the years, I've participated in many battles, and have come out very victorious almost every single time. I have fairly and intelligently made billions of dollars. This is an indicator of my abilities. I have always been told that people of great accomplishments cannot run for office. The fact is, this theory of a successful person running for office is rarely tested because they are often scrutinized. This is the type of person that we do need running for office.
Our current president came out of nowhere. I'll go one step further - people that went to school with him don't know where he came from.
Businessweek magazine said in a vote of its readers that Donald Trump is the world's most competitive business person, with Bill Gates in second and Warren Buffet in third.
We need to watch China and OPEC. Coming here today, $4.57 / gallon for gasoline. Anytime there is a little problem, OPEC announces an increase. And no one says anything. We have nobody that calls up OPEC and says that oil price better get lower, and it better get lower fast.
How about this? This morning I'm leaving New York, and a major company in Germany is buying the New York Stock Exchange! And what about the Somali Pirates? Give me one good admiral and we'd blast them out of the water so fast!
I have a reputation for telling it like it is. I'm known for my candor, and I tell it like it is.
I will tell you this: If I run, and if I get elected, this country will be respected again.
If there was someone I really liked running for president..." (People start yelling "Ron Paul for President.")
Donal Trump says, "Ron Paul cannot get elected, I like the guy, but there's no way he will be elected."
(Half the room starts booing and half starts cheering.)
I'm pro-life, I'm against gun control, and I will fight to end Obamacare, and replace it with something that makes sense and will not bankrupt the country.
If I decide to run for president, I will lower taxes and help make this country run well again.
Could Trump be saying "You're fired" to Obama in 2012?
