Hurd Praises More Than $5 Million in Funding for Texas Aviation Projects

As a member of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, I recently announced more than $5 million in new federal and state aviation funding for three local airports.

Between the Reagan County Airport, Del Rio International Airport and Pecos Municipal Airport, more than 35,000 aircraft operations happen annually. This additional $5 million will provide the opportunity for these airports to make tremendous improvements and allow them to better serve Texans.

The grants were awarded in the following amounts:

·       Pecos Municipal Airport, approximately $4,923,000 in federal funding will be used for taxiway improvements.

·       Del Rio International Airport, approximately $135,000 in federal funding will be used for engineering and design work.

·       Reagan County Airport, approximately $47,160 in state funding will be used to prepare an obstruction survey
