Keep Calling! Bipartisan Momentum on Sensible Immigration Policy is Growing

Recent successful bipartisan efforts on immigration legislation prove that sensible reform is possible! Your calls, emails, and faxes to lawmakers are making a difference.

Last month, Congress passed a $4.6 billion funding package to help with the border crisis and the immigration court case backlog.

Last week, two more immigration related bills passed the House with bipartisan support and are now on their way to the Senate:

  • The Fairness for High Skilled Immigrants Act, which would eliminate the 7% per country cap for employment based visas, passed the House 365-65. This bill would benefit our economy by helping employers suffering from skilled workforce shortages get workers they need.
  • The United States-Northern Triangle Enhanced Engagement Act is designed to combat corruption, strengthen rule of law, and improve security in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. It passed the House with 24 Dem and 14 Rep co-sponsors, including Texas’ Republican Representatives Michael McCaul, Dan Crenshaw, and Will Hurd. This bill would help address some root causes of the border crisis.

Let’s encourage our senators to follow up and pass these so President Trump can sign them into law.

These are both good steps, but we need a lot more. Let’s pray our lawmakers can continue this bipartisan momentum on immigration moving forward to address the misclassification of workers.

Please continue to call on your lawmakers to work on a method for undocumented workers to earn legal status that requires them to provide a positive ID, pass a criminal background check, agree to work only for employers that deduct and match taxes, and puts them at the “back of the line” to apply for citizenship.

May God bless you and may He continue to bless America.
