Listening and Learning About the Music Industry in Nashville

Last week, I joined Chairman Goodlatte and other members of the Judiciary Committee at a listening session in Nashville, Tennessee to explore how we can improve copyright policy. I heard from a broad range of people with varying interests including broadcasters, songwriters, music publishers and musicians.

I’m looking forward to continuing to work with House Judiciary members to figure out how we can help foster a free market in music and encourage transparency regarding who should be getting paid and how much.

I want to make sure that content creators are appropriately paid for their works and that new and innovative services that we love like Spotify, Apple Music, and Pandora aren’t destroyed by government intervention.
