Patriots Who Matter - Part 2

Republicans are proposing immediate repeal of Obamacare, but not replacing it for 2-3 years. Democrats have been toiling for over 100 years in their quest for socialized medicine. It is their holy grail to be defended at any cost. How can Republican leadership believe delaying implementation of a replacement plan after repeal of Obamacare will result in a successful bi- partisan restructuring? Bi-partisanship to a Democrat is Republicans surrendering their values. Link to Congressman Michael Burgess and Congressman Alcee Hastings in a House rules Committee hearing on Obamacare and you will see Democrat style bi-partisanship:

Democrats will use this ensuing battle on health care as an avenue to their ultimate goal – absolute power. Control health care and they control the population. Give Democrats 2-3 years to destroy Republican proposals, aided by their accomplices in the press, combined with anxiety of midterm elections and you will have Obamacare Light, with both sides claiming victory.

Government Complication

Government unnecessarily complicates issues as an entitlement mechanism. Businesses cannot function if they do not know the rules or their costs. Insurance companies can neither bleed red ink for another 2-3 years waiting for Congress to act nor can they develop cost effective plans to turn the Obamacare debacle around, without knowing what rules and regulations will be implemented.

Importance of the Constitution

Obamacare, an example of legislation untethered from the Constitution, stifles liberty and individual responsibility and was doomed to failure. Any new health care plan that is not grounded in the Constitution is doomed to the same result. Obamacare was 2572 pages long.  The U.S. Constitution is 4400 words printed on 6 pages.  An example of Democratic disregard for the Constitution can be gleaned by a statement from Rep. Alcee Hastings, one of only six Federal Judges to ever be impeached. Hastings’ bizarre concept of the Rule of Law surfaced on 3/21/2010, when he revealed the Democrat approach to passing Obamacare. “There ain’t no rules here, we’re trying to accomplish something here ….All this talk about rules…. When the deal goes down ….we make ‘em up as we go along.’’

The Tenth Amendment of the Constitution states, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.” There is no mention of health care in the Constitution. Obamacare usurped states’ rights, resulting in an authoritarian top down rule.

The Finish Line is in Sight

Congressman Burgess and Dr. Matthews participated in a health care forum at the Denton GOP Victory Conference prior to the 2014 Lincoln Reagan dinner. Their presentation demonstrated their depth of knowledge, experience and ability to articulate conservative values, but most importantly their respect for the Constitution. As servant leaders they have demonstrated the character and integrity that inspires confidence. We know that given the resources they will first and foremost do the right thing. My final thought after their forum was that solving this dilemma does not have to be difficult. Give Congressman Burgess and Dr. Matthews the means and the authority and our health care system will be well on the road to recovery.
