Congressman Tony Gonzales Announces HHS Grants for Head Start Programs in Texas’s 23rd District

On Friday I announced over $350,000 in grant funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for Head Start programs in Texas’s 23rd district. I previously served as the Community Representative for the City of San Antonio Head Start Policy Council from 2018 – 2019.

Grants will be awarded to the following organizations within the district:

  • $211,280 for Kids Are First, Inc. in Carrizo Springs.
  • $104,135 for San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District in Del Rio.
  • $35,213 in Pecos County Community Action Agency in Fort Stockton.

I applaud the HHS for putting these funds into the Head Start program. As a father of six, I understand how vital it is for kids to have access to the best resources, so they can become exemplary leaders and members of our communities.
