TRUMP TANGLES with TED!

The first presidential debate of 2016 sponsored by Fox Business on January 15 held in South Carolina ended the ‘love affair’ between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. There were two exchanges between the two top candidates that made the debate one of the most colorful, and for that matter, memorable. Neil Cavuto, moderator for Fox, brought it on by asking Cruz if he were eligible to be president. Cruz warned us of the impending attacks, and sure enough Trump dealt the first blow by hammering the question. All I can say is Cruz was ready for him. Cruz’s answer was a zinger by replying that “since September the Constitution hasn’t changed but the poll numbers have.” Trump admitted that the reason he mentioned it was because Cruz was ahead in the polls. Cruz reminded Trump that if his birther theory were true, then he could not be president because his mother was born in Scotland. Trump visibly cringed, apparently he didn’t like Cruz’s retort. It was fun to watch Cruz get the better of mouthy Trump.

The second encounter concerned ‘New York Values’. The exchange between the two rivals was brought about after Cruz’s comment that “Trump has New York values.” While we all know exactly what Cruz meant, Trump managed to turn the statement around when he mentioned 911. Trump is excellent in deflecting blame and depends on this ability. Trump may have acted like a ‘caring’ New Yorker but there are no records indicating that he ever contributed a penny to help the victims of 911. The Daily News, New York’s hometown newspaper clearly illustrates, New York Values.

Cruz did apologize to the people of New York.

Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio have all demanded an apology, and I'm happy to apologize. I apologize to the millions of New Yorkers who have been let down by the liberal politicians in that state. I apologize to all the hard working men and women of the state of New York who have been denied jobs because Governor Cuomo won’t allow fracking even though there have been many high paying jobs just South of Pennsylvania. New Yorkers are denied the ability to provide for their families.

I apologize to all the pro-life and pro-marriage and pro-second amendment New Yorkers who were told by Governor Cuomo that they have no place in New York because that’s not who New Yorkers are.

I apologize to all the small businesses who have been driven out of New York city by crushing taxes and regulations. I apologize to all the African American children who Mayor de Blasio tried to throw out of their charter schools that were providing a life line to the American dream.

I apologize to all the cops and the firefighters and 9/11 heroes who had no choice but to stand and turn their backs on Mayor de Blasio because Mayor de Blasio over and over again stands with the looters and the criminals rather than the brave men and women of blue.

Soon after the debate, Mark Campbell from the Cruz Campaign sent out the YouTube to Cruz’s supporters where Trump in his own words talks about the New York values with Tim Russert of Meet the Press. It’s time we decide if we want someone with 'New York values' to sit in the White House or if we are really serious about getting America back on track with Ted Cruz, the consistent conservative.
