Featured Voice of the Texas GOP: Dee Margo

Dee Margo represents the 78th House District of Texas. 

For over 30 years Dee has worked at the John D. Williams Company (JDW Insurance), with El Paso roots dating back to 1898, working his way up through the ranks from Vice President in 1977 to President, and now to his current position of Chairman and CEO.

Dee helped found the Border Fund, a non-profit foundation providing over $26 million in charitable grants to local volunteer groups. His firm is the principal partner in Operation Noel, providing over 13,000 coats for needy El Paso children, from toddlers to teenagers, each Christmas.

Dee is an active member of the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, El Paso Regional Economic Development Corporation, the Paso Del Norte Group, Rotary Club of El Paso, and served 8 years as The Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army on behalf of Fort Bliss. Dee was elected to the State House of Representatives, District 78, in November of 2010.

Dee attended Vanderbilt University on a football scholarship where he received a bachelor’s degree in history and economics. Dee’s Texas roots date back 4 generations to Rio Grande City. Dee and Adair, a third-generation El Pasoan and founder of the Adair Margo Gallery, have two sons, Wake and Don.
