Featured Voice of the Texas GOP: Jim Landtroop

Jim Landtroop is a freshman State Representative for House District 85, unseating the incumbent Democrat, Joseph Heflin, in the 2010 Elections.

As a small business owner, Jim serves over 1,400 clients and helps create jobs. When Jim is in the district, he is a community leader who serves on several local boards and is a member of several community organizations.

Like most West Texans, Jim is tired of government spending too much and ignoring the common sense values and needs of working families. Landtroop authored/co-authored many pieces of legislation which honored his "Contract with West Texas," committing to fight for smaller government, lower taxes, and stronger border security. Jim also partnered with Atty Gen Greg Abbott to fight to repeal Obamacare and stand up for States' Rights. He worked with other conservative Representatives to pass Voter ID, protect life, balance the state budget without raising taxes, and create jobs for West Texas families.

Jim graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Business Management, and his wife Cathy, is a graduate of Texas Tech University. The Landtroop family attends Harvest Christian Fellowship.

Jim is honored to represent the people of rural West Texas in the Texas House of Representatives. He takes this responsibility very seriously, and works hard to protect our teachers, our water, and our conservative values. Jim and Cathy have been married for 18 years and are the proud parents of four children: Braden (16), David (15), Kenneth (14) and Lauren Grace (11).

"I will continue to fight against regulations that stifle teacher creativity and increase costs. Teachers are the key to a successful education and we must prioritize spending in the classroom as well as allow schools to invest in vocational education."
