Along with East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind, Cornyn Honors Essential Workers with Disabilities

I recently joined East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind in recognizing the contributions of essential workers with disabilities to keep America running during the COVID-19 pandemic. I signed onto a resolution honoring these individuals and their efforts.

As the U.S. Senator for Texas, where roughly one in four Texans live with a disability, I am proud to sign onto this Senate resolution recognizing those going above and beyond to help their fellow citizens, even in the face of adversity. Essential workers – including those with disabilities – have put their communities before themselves during this pandemic, and I applaud all who have helped Americans continue in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Essential workers with disabilities in Texas and throughout the United States have faced multiple unique employment related obstacles created by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Craig Ellis, Community Relations Administrator at East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind.  “East Texas Lighthouse for The Blind, along with the other Texas Lighthouses, are proud of the efforts of our employees who are blind to overcome these obstacles in order to provide quality, essential products for the Department of Defense and other government entities. Our organizations and employees are proud to represent the critical infrastructure needed during these trying times. We are grateful to Senator Cornyn for his recognition and appreciation of disabled essential workers everywhere through his full support of Sen. Res. 679.”
