Congressman Gonzales Announces $240,000 for Reeves County Safe Streets For All Project

Congressman Gonzales (TX-23) on Friday announced $240,000 in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) for the Reeves County Safe Streets For All Project (SS4A). In September, Congressman Gonzales sent a letter of support for this funding to USDOT Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

This funding will allow for the creation of a comprehensive safety action plan and an oversight committee responsible for its development and implementation. This plan will address safety measures that employ low cost, high impact strategies and adopt technologies to improve safety across the region.

“The oil and gas industry has allowed Reeves County to grow rapidly, causing an influx of commercial development and traffic,” said Congressman Gonzales. “These dangerous road conditions have led to an alarming rate of fatal traffic accidents. That’s why I’m proud to secure this critical funding to save lives by creating safer roadways in the community.”
