Congressman Keith Self Sends Letter Condemning United Nations General Assembly for Adopting Resolution Ostracizing Israel
Recently, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution calling for the removal of Israeli Jews from the Old City of Jerusalem, amongst other heinous demands. Congressman Keith Self responded with a letter to the United States Ambassador to the United Nations (UN), Linda Thomas-Greenfield, condemning the resolution and demanding consequences for the nations opposing Israel.
In the resolution, the UN General Assembly demanded the removal of Israeli Jews from the “Occupied Palestinian Territory,” which includes the Old City of Jerusalem. The resolution also demanded a diplomatic and economic boycott of Israel, as well as Israel’s military withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
In 2023, the UN voted on fifteen resolutions singling out Israel, compared to just seven resolutions pertaining to all other countries in the world.
“The stakes of the radical, Jihadist war against our ally Israel are so significant that there can be no neutrality when responding to this conflict,” said Congressman Keith Self. “Now is the time to evaluate all US foreign aid for those countries that continually ostracize the United States and Israel at the UN General Assembly. As for our allies who abstained from voting, I strongly urge them to reconsider their position going forward.”
In his letter, Congressman Self also requested an expression of gratitude to the nations who joined the US and Israel in voting “no”: Argentina, Czechia, Hungary, Malawi, Paraguay, the Republic of Fiji, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, and Tuvalu.
