Cornyn Demands Answers from State Department on Clinton Emails

In response to media reports that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton used personal email to conduct official business, today I sent a letter to the State Department Inspector General demanding answers to specific questions as part of the ongoing investigation:

“Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s recent admission that she used a private email account to conduct her email correspondence as Secretary of State raises serious concerns for Americans who believe in open government and the accountability of our highest officials. This news has wide-ranging implications for the Department’s compliance with federal laws—including the Federal Records Act and the Freedom of Information Act—and congressional oversight.”

“As part of your investigation, I urge you to give the events surrounding Secretary Clinton’s private email account the scrutiny they deserve.
