Democrats Reject Reasonable Proposals to Keep Government Open
by John Cornyn on October 1, 2013 at 10:26 AM
I appeared on Bloomberg last night to discuss Senate Democrats rejecting the House’s reasonable proposals to keep the government open and delay Obamacare.
Every reasonable proposal, including the last which would have delayed the individual mandate for a year, eliminated the special carve-out for Members of Congress, went down on a party-line vote.
Why do Members of Congress get a special carve-out? Why are Democrats defending that? People are sick and tired of business as usual in Washington.
They see spending continue, they see borrowing continue, and they want to see a change and so far it doesn’t seem like the President has gotten the message.
