ESPN Shows Ignorance

There is political correctness and then there is simply stupidity. ESPN'a most recent suspension of Curt Schilling is an example of stupidity and the stupidity is on the part of ESPN. Schilling tweeted out how modern day Islamists were similar to Nazis, and well, the suits at ESPN went bananas over the idea that a minority of Muslims who are responsible for widespread violence are similar to the minority of Germans who were members of the Nazi Party. To paraphrase comedian Eddie Izzard, Hitler was a genocidal f***head and so are the modern Islamists. Exactly what are the ESPN suits watching on news, maybe they haven’t seen ISIS behead Christians simply because they were Christians, throw gays off the top of buildings, and radical Islamists from Iran to the ISIS killing field in Syria are forever yelling death to Jews, in between death to America.

If the ESPN suits actually study the history of Middle East politics, they would know that in the 1930s, many Arabs were impacted by much of the “ism” of Western Civilization including Nazism. Among those impacted by Nazisim included the Iraqi’s Bathist Party, the party of Saddam Hussein. It is getting to a point in America that we are even whitewashing modern day history. Granted the Obama administration is in the midst of allowing Iranian Islamists to acquire nuclear weapons and giving Tehran hegemony over the Middle East, but it doesn’t change the nature of the regime or its ideology. ISIS on a daily basis keeps proving Mr. Schilling correct.

ESPN may be uncomfortable over their sports analysts commenting on politics, or even more uncomfortable that some of their analysts are actually Republicans. ESPN even has a right to discipline their analysts if their announcers cross lines that should not be crossed in the eyes of ESPN, but they should at least have some historical perspective if not historical accuracy.

ISIS and Iranian mullahs hate Jews and persecute those that oppose them regardless if they are Muslims and are genocidal f***heads just like Nazis. So exactly what did Schilling say that is incorrect? Did Schilling not note that a small percentage of Muslims are Islamists just as he noted a small percentage of Germans were members of the Nazi Party? His point was there are similarities between the two and on this he is correct. (The reverse is by pointing out since he said that a small minority of Muslims are Islamists, Curt Schilling acknowledges that the vast majority of Muslims are not.)

ESPN owes Schilling an apology but I wouldn’t hold my breath that they will apologize to Schilling. Schilling is historically accurate on the nature of ISIS and other Islamists and for that he got suspended. Now that is stupid.
