Helping Veterans Get the Care They Earned

Last week, more than two hundred veterans attended my annual Veterans Summit in Corpus Christi to learn about services and assistance available to them. Our community is military- and veterans- friendly, as evidenced by the large turnout and wide array of public and private groups that came to show how they support those who have served. Texas A&M Corpus Christi and its Student Veterans Organization are leaders in helping military members transition, and train, to use the skills they learned in the military in the civilian world. Thanks to great programs like the e-Line Military Program, veterans with military medical training can transfer that knowledge to help them earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing. This is a great partnership that benefits not just current and former military members, but the community as well.

With the rising numbers of those living with PTSD and the problems at the VA, it’s incredibly important to help veterans connect with people in the community who are able to assist them. If you need help or know someone who does, please ask them to contact my office. My staff and I are ready to help with any issues with the VA. If you are in need of help, please contact the Red Tape Cutters in my district office at 361-884-2222.
