House Passes Legislation that Slows Breakthroughs in Vaccine Development

Last Monday, the House passed H.R. 1425, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act Enhancement Act, better entitled the "Slow COVID Cures Act."  This legislation is a prime example of Speaker Pelosi's governing motto, 'never let a good crisis go to waste.'  It exploits the Coronavirus crisis to force government-controlled health care on the American people and institute socialist price controls in the drug market.  This will only serve to discourage private research and development of vaccines, cures, and therapies for our seniors and most vulnerable patients.

The last time Democrats tried this scam earlier this year, the White House Council of Economic Advisors stated that these price controls will result in as many as 100 fewer cures and treatments over the next 10 years.  This political malpractice is life or death for millions of Americans if their condition is left untreated.  In fact, House Democrats were so blindly partisan that they followed Speaker Pelosi's lead in voting against a sensible Republican amendment that would have protected vulnerable patients from this harmful overreach.
