McCaul Questions U.S. Troops’ Cancelled, Delayed COVID-19 Vaccinations

I recently sent a letter to the Departments of Health and Human Services and Defense after hearing troubling reports of delayed or cancelled vaccine appointments for U.S. troops and their families stationed at home and abroad.

Reportedly, some U.S. military hospitals are experiencing significant delays in supplies of the vaccine, which has caused appointments to be cancelled, leaving many American military officials vulnerable to COVID-19.

Our nation’s troops – especially those serving abroad, away from their family and friends – should be a top priority in our nation's vaccine distribution strategy. It is incredibly disappointing to hear that many troops, who want to get the vaccine, are unable to receive it because their appointment has been cancelled or delayed.

I have requested more information from HHS and DOD on their plans to rectify this situation in a timely manner.
