Now Here’s the Rand Paul America Needs

We’re hearing that John “I’ve Learned Nothing” Bolton may be picked as Deputy Secretary of State.

Bill Kristol just tweeted that he predicts Bolton won’t be appointed. If you’ve followed Kristol’s prediction record, you know that means Bolton’s name is already on the stationery.

Nice to see a combative Rand Paul standing up against the Bolton disaster.  He said on Meet the Press just today:

“I think John Bolton is so far out of it, and has such a naïve understanding of the world, if he were to be the assistant or the undersecretary for Tillerson, I’m an automatic ‘No’ on Bolton.

“He should get nowhere close to the State Department, if anybody with a sane worldview is in charge.”

Perfect. I couldn’t have improved on that myself.

Rand has been saying things like this about a bunch of rumored possibilities for foreign-policy positions in the new administration. And he innocently, but very cleverly, tells reporters he wants to make sure that no one opposed to Donald Trump’s stated views on foreign policy, particularly the obvious folly of the Iraq war, gets one of those positions.

Presumably Trump himself ought to be capable of determining who shares his own views, so I’m frankly enjoying watching Rand remind the president-elect of what he’s supposed to believe.

Rand’s description of Bolton as “naive” — presumably because of his juvenile view that the simple American removal of bad guys ought to do the trick — is likewise great to see, since of course it’s the noninterventionists, who have been vindicated a thousand times over, who are, absurdly enough, called “naive.”

If it weren’t for Rand, what prominent right-of-center figure in public life would be speaking out against these potential appointees?

So good for him. This is the Rand we all want.

Now, down to business:

The 400+ videos on history and government I made for Rand’s father are just a bonus I’ve added on to the lifetime membership at my Liberty Classroom.

Fill those nagging gaps in your knowledge — from Aristotle to World War II. I’ll teach you lots of stuff while you’re driving your car.

Or I’ll help your student get a leg up, and learn stuff no school will teach him.

No more losing debates to people with whom you should be wiping the floor.

I’m taking 150 smackers off my master membership, but not for long:
