Rep. Roy’s Statement Following Marathon House Judiciary Antitrust Markup

On Thursday, I released the following statement after the House Judiciary Committee markup of antitrust bills:

Over the last two days, I was encouraged to see so much bipartisan agreement regarding the issues we face from the concentrated market power of big tech companies.  Corporate tyranny that suppresses the views of conservatives, like government tyranny, is antithetical to a people that counts free expression among its most closely-held values. I was proud to support two pieces of legislation in this legislative package, led by my friend Ken Buck, including one that will level the playing field for state attorneys general who challenge these trillion-dollar companies in court.  And while I believe the remaining bills were too heavy-handed in a way that will create many unintended consequences, I am eager to continue working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to shape legislation that narrowly targets the anticompetitive practices of monopolistic big tech companies that are harming consumers and censoring conservatives.
