Sen. Cruz Issues Statement on Success of U.S. Military Raid, Death of ISIS Leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi

As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, I yesterday issued the following statement after President Trump confirmed the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi:

Today, there is less evil in the world as a result of the successful military operation to eliminate the leader of ISIS, ordered by President Trump and carried out by our brave men and women in uniform. The operation is a major testament to our counterterrorism forces, who go into the most dangerous places in the world to ensure our nation remains secure. With this successful mission, the president has deepened the destruction of ISIS's physical caliphate, which stands as one of the administration's overarching national security accomplishments. I look forward to continuing to work with President Trump to combat terrorism and safeguard our country.
