Senator Cornyn Outlines Priorities as Senate Heads Back Into Session

Several important events happened this past week, and I wanted to share with you a few quick updates from them that will be shaping my priorities as the Senate goes back into session this week.

Fort Hood Victims Finally Awarded Purple Hearts
Victims of the tragic 2009 terrorist attack on Fort Hood were finally honored on Friday, both with Purple Hearts and the benefits they or their families rightfully deserved. It was an honor to be a part of this ceremony, and a solemn reminder of my duty to stand up for the men and women who protect our freedoms.

Google Discussion To End Sex Trafficking
I had a frank discussion with executives at Google last week, on technology’s role in sex trafficking and what we can do to put an end to this heinous crime. I’m hopeful that as we return to sessions this week, Senate Democrats will put aside party politics and recognize the urgent need for a solution to help these trafficking victims, who are right here in our own back yards.

Waco State of the Nation Talk
I was glad to visit Waco on Friday to discuss ways in which we can bring the Texas tradition of economic opportunity and growth to Washington – it’s time Washington take cues from our strong economy to grow America’s.

As I head to Washington to take up Senate business again, I hope you’ll share with me the things that are most important to you by leaving me a message on Facebook or Twitter.
