Sessions Votes to Protect Our Forests

I released the following statement applauding the passage of a package to improve forest management to return resilience to overgrown, fire-prone forested lands:
As an avid outdoorsman and Eagle Scout, some of my fondest memories are of my father and I climbing the highest peaks in our national parks and later leading my sons on hikes through our beautiful national forests. It is devastating to see that the places we used to love to enjoy as a family have been greatly impacted by wildfires. Last year alone, a total of 4,312 structures were destroyed by wildfires, including 3,192 homes. Each year these fires grow larger, put more lives in danger, and cause more harm to our environment.
We cannot continue to let our nation's beautiful landscape suffer because of poor forest management programs. I proudly supported this measure to make responsible and necessary reforms to these programs so we keep our forests healthy and ensure we can enjoy our natural landscape for generations to come.
