From Luby's to the Legislature: One Woman's Fight Against Gun Control

Suzanna Gratia Hupp former member of the Texas House of Representatives discusses gun rights and her new book, From Lubys to the Legislature: One Womans Fight Against Gun Control.

She tells the story of a past event in which she had gone to eat at a Lubys Cafeteria and had left her gun in her car to comply with Texas state law at the time, which forbade carrying a concealed weapon. A man drove his truck into the cafeteria and opened fire on the Lubys customers. Hupp instinctively reached into her purse for her weapon, but it was in her vehicle. Her father tried to stop the shooter and was shot in the chest. As the gunman reloaded, Hupp escaped through a broken window and believed that her mother was behind her. However, the man had put a gun to her mothers head as she cradled her mortally wounded husband. Hupps mother and father were killed along with twenty-one other people.
