A Harrowing Night at the White House Correspondents' Dinner

Last weekend, as journalists, congress members, and administration officials gathered at the Washington Hilton to recognize the importance of a free press, a deranged individual attempted to storm the ballroom and kill President Trump and others. Thankfully, the brave Secret Service members jumped into action, subduing the suspect before he even made it to the ballroom door. 

I was seated at Bloomberg's table in the ballroom when I heard the shots ring out and saw the Secret Service rush to protect the president. Soon afterwards, Capitol Police came to escort me home in an emergency vehicle.

While I'm incredibly grateful for law enforcement's quick response, I'm also saddened at the violence and hate we are seeing today.
