The Iran Deal is a Bad Deal
After missing multiple deadlines, President Obama announced last week that a deal had been reached with Iran during nuclear negotiations.
Details of the deal are beginning to come to light on just how bad the deal is. Among the problems I see is that the deal allows Iran to continue to produce as much nuclear fuel as it wants in 15 years. It also allows Iran to conduct research on advanced centrifuges in 8 years. And, as Gen. Martin E. Dempsey warned us about, it lifts the embargo on the import and export of conventional arms and ballistic missiles. What does a rogue nation need with a ballistic missile if not to attack faraway lands like America? One has to wonder how this plan is supposed to prevent Iran from building a nuclear weapon since Iran’s long-term plans are allowed to remain secret.
I am hopeful that Congress will have the votes needed to stop this deal and override the promised Presidential veto. We cannot let this deal go through and I will urge my colleagues to vote with me and say “no” to this deal. We cannot allow Iran to build up billions of dollars and grow a strong military with nuclear capabilities.
