Sign the Petition Supporting Texas' Fight to Overturn Obamacare!

The following was sent in from the Republican Party of Texas:

Obamacare is a disaster in the making. Texas Health and Human Services Executive Commissioner Thomas Sues recently estimated that the Democrats' health care takeover will cost Texas $27 billion. Obamacare threatens our businesses, our family budgets, even our individual freedom and our nation's fiscal future. Meanwhile, the Democrats are already floating trial balloons about raising our taxes to pay for all their ill-advised, budget-busting spending sprees. But Texans aren't taking the Democrats' bad medicine without a fight. Our state is currently challenging Obamacare in court.

Since we launched our online petition supporting Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott's lawsuit, along with now 18 other states, to challenge the constitutionality of Obamacare, response has been overwhelming! So far, more than 7,500 have put their names on the line supporting the fight! Media all over Texas, from KLBJ in Austin to KHRO in El Paso, from KLTV in Tyler-Longview to KTRH in Houston, have covered the story of Texans rising up to support our great Attorney General.

If you haven't signed the petition, it's not too late. Show Attorney General Abbott that you support him by signing the petition posted at the award-winning Republican Party of Texas website. It will be delivered to Attorney General Abbott on April 16, 2010. The petition states:

We, the people of the great state of Texas, stand as one to oppose the Democratic Party's assault on our Constitutional rights through Obamacare.

A majority of Americans believe that the Democrats' tactics in passing Obamacare constituted an abuse of power. Yet the Texas Democrats stand with their party, not the people. We will not stand by while Democrats elected by Texas voters vote for the unconstitutional individual mandate forcing Texans to purchase insurance against their will. We will not stand by while the Democrats' statist visions destroy our businesses, attack our family budgets, add unsustainable spending to our state's budget, and pile up trillions of dollars of unfathomable debt to our nation's future. We will not let the Democrats' Obamacare stand, and we stand as one to support our great Attorney General, Greg Abbott.

We call on Texas Democrats to stand with the people of Texas, and not their party. We call on Texas Democrats to put party fealty aside and support our Constitutional liberties. And we support Attorney General Greg Abbott's quest to bring down Obamacare.
