Texas GOP Featured Voice: Marilyn Jackson

Marilyn Jackson is the Republican candidate for State Representative of District 51.

Marilyn Jackson was born on January 26th, 1961 in Austin, Texas. A lifelong resident of District 51, Marilyn attended Allison Elementary school – before the days of public transportation – where she had to walk over a mile each day to class. The 5th sibling of a family of 9, Marilyn was lucky to grow up in a highly family-oriented environment. A graduate of Del Valle High School, Marilyn went on to study Public Administration at St. Edwards University.

After graduating from court reporting at the Cussad Institute of Court Reporting in Austin, Texas, she went on to serve the state of Texas as a child support officer in the Attorney General’s office under the Morales and Cornyn Administrations. After her experience in the Solicitor General’s office, Marilyn decided to run for office.

Marilyn now serves her community in several capacities. She serves as a greeter and active leader at Arise Ministries in Austin, and also heads the Evangelist team, which performs church outreach to Austin and surrounding communities. A board member of the Montopolis Neighborhood Contact team, Marilyn helps the community by helping make recommendations to the city on any changes within the community. She is also a member of the Montopolis Community Business Leadership organization, which aims to build coalitions within the community to better address concerns and problems. Marilyn now lives with her son, Robert, in Austin, Texas.
